David P. Parker – Senior Attorney
David Parker has done everything from mergers to murders over his 37 years of practicing law in Iredell County. He now focusses primarily on Business creation and planning, governance, complex civil litigation, and land use and finance. His practice has taken him from Maryland to Mississippi and has included appellate cases with the Fourth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court.
As General Counsel for Langtree at the Lake, a 400-acre development with some four miles of shoreline on Lake Norman, David has worked in obtaining and closing both HUD underwritten and conventional loans, private equity, and special assessment bonds.
David’s practice includes complex equitable distribution family law matters to catastrophic Workers Compensation injuries to defending neighborhoods from environmentally hazardous development.
David has been very active in the community, serving as Chairman of the Board of Mitchell Community College, elected Member of the Iredell-Statesville School Board, Moderator of Salem Presbytery in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party in 2012 (National Convention Host State) and Campaign Manager for U.S. Senator Terry Sanford’s Re-election Campaign in 1992.
David is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and of the UNC School of Law. He and his wife, Sally, a Realtor with Lake Norman Real Estate, have been married for 36 years and have three children.
W. Carey Parker – Attorney
Carey joined Parker Law Offices as an attorney in October 2015. Prior to receiving his law license he was a Law Clerk for the firm beginning in September 2014. Carey practices primarily in the areas of Estate Planning Administration, Business Law, Eminent Domain, Civil Litigation, and Farm Law. He has experience in the District and Superior Courts of North Carolina and also in the North Carolina Court of Appeals and Federal District Courts of North Carolina and Georgia.
Carey attended North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina, where he was a Student Volunteer for Legal Aid’s Exoneration Project and also the Lawyers on the Line Project, was the Co-founder and President of the Law School Democrats, and was a member of the Environmental Law Society. During his third year of law school Carey was a law clerk for The Brannan Law Firm, which specializes in agricultural law.
During the summer before his third year of law school Carey was an intern at the North Carolina Court of Appeals in the Chambers of Judge Samuel Ervin IV (now NC Supreme Court Justice). The previous summer Carey worked as a legal intern for The Yadkin Riverkeeper, assisting in legal research and gathering evidence for major environmental litigation against multinational meat processing corporations. Prior to law school Carey worked in sales and marketing positions in Charlotte North Carolina, after graduating in 2005 from University of North Carolina – Wilmington with a B.A. in Communication Studies.
Carey is currently serving his community on the boards of Downtown Statesville Development Corporation, Iredell Museums, and the Statesville Civil Service Board and as Chairman of the Iredell County Democratic Party.
Carey and his wife, Annie; daughter Evie; and dog Ellie live in downtown Statesville, North Carolina where they are members of First Presbyterian Church and are active in the community. Carey and his family are animal lovers and in their spare time enjoy hiking, camping, and attending festivals, and Carey is a passionate fly fisherman and outdoorsman.
